City of Unalaska Announces First Round Interviews for City Manager Recruitment
Unalaska, Alaska — Mayor Vincent Tutiakoff announced today that the City of Unalaska will conduct first-round interviews for the City Manager position on the afternoon of Saturday, May 30, 2026, in City Council Chambers. Interview times will be announced once finalized.
The interviews will be conducted remotely and will be open to the public. Community members may attend in person or remotely through the City’s regular meeting access platform. Additional details regarding the schedule and remote participation information will be provided prior to the interviews.
The three candidates selected to advance to the first-round interview stage are:
- Rudy Bean of Kake, Alaska
- Bart J. Hinkle of North Pole, Alaska
- Abner L. Hoage of The Villages, Florida
Mr. Hoage has been serving as Interim City Manager since January 21, 2026. His interim contract is scheduled to conclude on June 20, 2026.
Following the interviews, the City Council will retire into executive session to deliberate regarding the candidates and determine next steps in the recruitment process.
The City is conducting the recruitment in partnership with Reffett Associates, an executive recruitment firm based in Seattle.
Mayor Tutiakoff stated: “The City Council appreciates the interest shown by these candidates and looks forward to learning more about each of them during the interview process. Selecting a City Manager is one of the most important responsibilities of the Council, and we encourage members of the public to observe the interviews and remain engaged in this important decision for our community.”
